Ques: How to Identify Single jersey
Ans:
Face side (T/F)and back (T/B) side of the fabric are different.
Curl or roll of fabric occurs at the edges.
Wales are clearly visible on the face side of the fabric.
Extensibility in width wise is approximately twice than length.
Unraveling of fabric occurs from either side is possible.
Thickness of fabric is approximately twice the diameter of yarn used.
Ques: Write down the Appearance of Single jersey knitted structure.
Ans:
A fabric in which the knitted loops are the same sort and meshed in the same manner.
On the face side or technical front side(T/F)and different on the other side that means technical Back(T/B).The side on which the straight parts of the stitches appear in V formation is called the T/F, and reverse side has twin rows of opposed semi circle.
Edge curling produce for yarn tension. In Single Jersey curling occurs T/F to T/B in length wise direction. And T/B to T/F in width wise direction.
Its Dimensional Stability is high because after stretching it does no recover its original shape.
Ques : Properties of single and Double Jersey.
Ans:
Single jersey properties:
Simplest Knit Structure
Face side smooth and sheen
Back side rough and dull
Lighter Fabric
Economical
Easily ravels at both the side
Highly extensible in length and width
The fabric curls toward the face at the top and bottom and towards the back at the sides.
Laddering is very common I these fabrics
Knitted loops in plain knit fabrics tend to distort easily under tension which helps to give a form fitting and comport due to property of elastics.
Double jersey Properties:
Stretch ability is low and elastic recovery is more than weft knit jersey.
T/F and T/ B are same like V shape
Soft and resilient
Non Reversible type.
High Draft ability and good fall
Good Dimensional stability
High shrinkage in natural fiber.
